MOOSE JAW FAMILY YMCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

I volunteer at the YMCA now because of the impact the YMCA had on my life
growing up.  The programs I was involved in and the interaction I had with
other kids and leaders gave me confidence, independence and helped make me
an achiever. I also had a lot of fun!  I have been looking forward to
sharing that with my kids.

Although I've been involved at the YMCA for a long time I did not know about
the charitable aspect or the strategy behind the programming until recently.
I have been volunteering with other organizations and I decided I would
focus my time and resources in an area that was a better fit for me. I feel
great knowing other kids and adults who may not have the resources right now
are able to enjoy the same experiences.  I believe in the YMCA's focus of
helping to develop "Strong kids and strong families."

The Board consists of members of the Moose Jaw Family YMCA who are committed to the “Y’s” involvement with children, youth and families and who are willing to volunteer their time to the policy and governance of the YMCA. The Board develops strategic goals and priorities; the staff then develops and implements the work plan. The Board is also instrumental in seeking out financial support for the YMCA’s charitable programs. Board members meet once a month and participate in one board retreat per year. The Board Executive recruits new board members who join the board at the Annual General Meeting where the Board and the Chief Executive Officer reports on the Y’s activities from the previous year.
