Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I join the advanced sessions only?
    Yes, if you have had at least 5 years of organized baseball experience.
  2. Is there a discount if I register for both the hitting and pitching sessions?
    No, due to the extensive training and feedback each session will need to be registered and paid for separately.
  3. Is there a discount if I register more than one person for the program?
    No, again due to the extensive training, feedback and program development each registrant will need to pay the full fee.
  4. What if I miss a class or cannot make them all? Can my fee be pro-rated?
    No, sorry. Fees are due in full at the session please try to attend all sessions as the classes are progressive in nature.
  5. Are there any other skills being taught other than pitching and hitting?
    No, not at this time. However, we are working on developing a curriculum to address broader aspects of baseball development. (infield and outfield play, base-running, cutoffs/relays, bunt defenses, rundowns, etc)
  6. What if my child would like extra pitching and hitting lessons?
    Is that available? Yes, Ben Fines will be providing private lessons please contact him at 551-8390 or baseballfirst.ca
  7. Are the classes co-ed?
    Yes, the classes are co-ed however, we will not be teaching or developing the windmill pitch or other softball or fastball pitches.

The Program– Fundamentals

 

Objectives of Fundamentals Pitching Course….

Through concentrated instruction, extensive drills and timely feedback, players will learn:

  • The mechanics of proper throwing and receiving
  • Pitching fundamentals
  • How to maintain balance
  • How to develop greater power
  • How to improve control
  • Strength and conditioning techniques
  • Arm maintenance and injury prevention

Objectives of Fundamentals Hitting Course….

Through concentrated instruction, extensive drills
and timely feedback, players will learn:
  • The Absolutes of Hitting
  • How to develop better balance
  • How to make better contact
  • Greater hand and bat head awareness
  • Strength and conditioning techniques

 

The Program– Advanced

 

The advanced programs are for players who have had at least 5 years experience in organized baseball. As the classes are progressive in nature, we would encourage everyone to start at the fundamental levels.


The advanced programs will continue to build upon strengths and drive players to be the best baseball player possible. Each session will include concentrated instruction, extensive drills and timely feedback from certified coaches.
