Fit to Deliver
This prenatal exercise program is based on the belief that most women can and should remain active before, during and after pregnancy.

This program follows three principles:
Prevention: Exercise during pregnancy has been found to reduce the incidence of gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced hypertension. It will also address the effects of postural changes, low back pain, diastasis recti, and pelvic floor concerns as they arise.
Preparation: A fit body labors more efficiently and recovers more quickly. Strength gained or maintained throughout pregnancy in a prenatal fitness program will be a valuable asset.
Restoration: Time spent exercising during pregnancy will make it easier for a new mother to regain her pre – pregnancy shape, strength and fitness level.

Our Physical Therapists is a certified Fit to Deliver instructor and is able to tailor this program for different fitness levels and stages of pregnancy.

The class is open to all pregnant women who have consent on their health care practitioner.

Time:  Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

Cost:  $80 per month or $12 drop in fee
FREE WITH MATERNITY MEMBERSHIP

Group Size:  Class is unlimited.

                                       September 14 – December 21, 2009

This is a 7 week introductory program designed for the woman beginning the journey towards a healthier way to live and move in her body after coming through the experience of pregnancy and delivery.  Recovery is not automatic and it is important that women of all ages take control and not fall victim to the myths that abound around what we should accept because of the choice to have children.  It is not normal to have back or pelvic girdle pain after pregnancy or to leak urine at any time in life.

This program is lead by a physical therapist and will help you discover what you can do for yourself.  Childcare is available on site. 

Time:  Class runs once a week on Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am for 7 weeks.

Cost:  $20.00 cost for MATERNITY MEMBERSHIP HOLDERS
$100.00 cost for Non Maternity Membership
Cost includes all instructional materials and all exercise instruction/equipment/booklets.

 

Group Size:  Class is limited to 10 participants.  Must start on the first day and preference would be 6 weeks post birth. 

Session Dates:  January 22 – March 5, 2009
                    March 19 – May 7, 2009 (No class April 16th)
                    May 14 – June 25, 2009

This program is designed for women who want a structured exercise environment following the experience of labour and delivery.  Lead by a physical therapist and exercise therapist, this class will help you recover your pre-pregnancy body and prepare you for the ongoing demands of caring for your child.  Childcare is available on site. 

Pre-requisite – Although not required, it is encouraged that women take
Level 1 – The Core prior to Level 2. 

Time:  Class runs three times a week:
Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 10:45 to 11:45
Thursday’s from 9:30 – 10:30 am for 8 weeks.

Cost:
FREE WITH MATERNITY MEMBERSHIP
$50.00 for General YMCA Members
$160 for Non-member

Group Size:  Class is limited to 16 participants. 

Session Dates:  March 9 – April 30, 2009 (No class April 13th)
                       May 4 – June 22, 2009 (No class May 18th)
September 14 – November 5, 2009 (No class October 12th)

6 Week Course:

November 9 – December 17, 2009 (No class November 11th)
Cost: $120.00 for a Non-member
$40.00 for General YMCA Members

Fit For Two


Get your Body Back with Baby!

No more excuses!!  This post-partum group fitness class is structured for you and your baby/toddler (up to 18 months) to exercise together.  Your child will help you with your workout and we will all have some fun.

 

Time:  Class runs two times a week on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from
1:15 pm to 2:15 pm.

Cost: 
Regular members: $35 for session
Non-member: $160 for session or $40/month
FREE WITH MATERNITY MEMBERSHIP

Group Size:  Class is limited to 20 participants. 

Session Dates:  Spring/Summer: March 3 – June 30, 2009
                                     Fall/Winter: September 8 – December 22, 2009

 PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, however participants can join at anytime during the session, fees will be pro-rated.

Special Notes:
  Must be able to lift child repetitively
